The UNM College of Education and Human Sciences (COEHS) has collaboratively designed the following set of asynchronous professional development courses through partnership with 6 statewide teams of early educators from Farmington, Taos, Eight Northern Indian Pueblo Council, Las Vegas, Hobbs, and Gadsden. Faculty from Family and Child Studies, Early Childhood Education, Counselor Education, Nutrition, and Special Education alongside staff from the Family Development Program formed a learning community network with this group of statewide early childhood leaders to co-design the modules. The CREATE EC Network identified areas of professional development need that were co-designed to connect training to specific experiences in the field that address equity, quality practice, and early education knowledge for professionals working with young children and their families, pregnancy to age 5. The modules will reflect current courses as well as a proposed distributed minor we hope to soon offer across COEHS disciplines following the required curriculum review process.
